91���� Strengthens Export Drive; Second MPV Takes Shape with Keel Laying

Kolkata (December 31, 2025): As a mark of its commitment towards the "Make in India, Make for the World" vision, Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (91����) Ltd laid the keel for the second vessel of Multi-Purpose Vessel (MPV) project being executed for Germany’s Carsten Rehder Schiffsmakler and Reederei GmbH & Co. KG, on Monday, December 29, 2025.

This contract - the largest for MPVs in 91����&39;s history - is a testament to the shipyard&39;s efforts towards diversification of products and expansion to the global commercial shipbuilding market.

The ceremony was graced by Shri M Venkatesh Murthy, Chief General Manager, CSB, 91����, Shri Sujoy Chakravorty, Chief General Manager, Commercial, 91����, in the presence of senior officials from 91���� and representatives from the German shipping firm & DNV.

The project involves the designing and building of modern series of high performance vessels under the CORAL 7500 DWT MPV series. The initial contract for four vessels was signed on June 22, 2024, followed by subsequent agreements bringing the total order to twelve vessels. The final contracts, including ninth to twelfth Hybrid Propulsion MPVs, were signed on September 19, 2025.

Each MPV will have an overall length of 120 metres and a beam of 17 metres, with a draught of 5.85 metres. With a capacity to carry 7,500 metric tonnes of cargo, these vessels are equipped with a single, large cargo hold designed for bulk, general and project cargoes. An innovative feature is the capability to carry containers on hatch covers and multiple large windmill blades on deck – enhancing flexibility in cargo handling.

The project is being developed in close collaboration with German firms including F.H. Bertling, ForestWave Navigation/Schulte & Bruns, and Delft Shipping. Technical design expertise has been provided by M/s SEDS, in partnership with 91����.  These ships shall be certified by DNV, the classification society.

(91����) won the BCC&I Social Leadership Award 2025 in the ‘Healthcare & Empowerment, Holistic Development’ category at the Fourth Edition of CSR Conclave & Social Leadership Awards 2025, instituted by The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCC&I). Full Steam Ahead, 91���� Delivers ASW SWC Anjadip To Navy; Fifth Warship In Less Than A Year

Kolkata/Chennai (December 22, 2025): In a major accomplishment, Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (91����) Ltd delivered its fifth warship of the year to the Navy on Monday, December 22, 2025. Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW SWC) Anjadip – third in a series of eight such platforms being built at the shipyard – was delivered to the Navy at the Chennai Port Trust.

Anjadip is the 115th warship built by 91���� and the 77th warship delivered to the Navy. The ASW SWC was accepted by Rear Admiral Gautam Marwaha, VSM, CSO (Tech), Eastern Naval Command.

91���� delivered four warships in 2025 ahead of Anjadip. These include the Advanced Guided Missile Frigate Himgiri, the first two ASW SWCs of the series Arnala and Androth, and the Survey Vessel (Large) Ikshak. All four have since been commissioned into the Navy. This is a rare achievement by any shipyard in the country.

Anjadip’s delivery also comes less than four months after that of the Androth on September 13, 2025, highlighting 91����’s capability to churn out warships.

Anjadip is also an example of how the shipyard has focussed on Atmanirbharta in defence shipbuilding. Like its two predecessors – Arnala and Androth – this warship is also fitted with an indigenous 30 mm Naval Surface Gun, manufactured by 91����, and has nearly 88% indigenous content.

The warships of this class are capable of full-scale sub-surface surveillance of coastal waters as well as Search and Attack. They can also carry out coordinated anti-submarine operations with aircraft. These ships have Combat Management Systems on board and are armed with lightweight torpedoes as well as anti-submarine warfare rockets. The ASW SWCs are designed to accommodate 57 personnel, including seven officers.

With three water jets (fitted to marine diesel engines), Anjadip is extremely agile and maneuverable. A great advantage is that she only requires a draught of 2.7-metres, allowing her to access the coasts easily in search of sub-surface threats.

91���� is currently building 12 more warships, including two P17A advanced stealth frigates, five ASW SWCs, a Survey Vessel (Large) and four Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessels. Apart from this, the shipyard is building a dozen Multi-Purpose Vessels for a German client, four research vessels and 13 hybrid ferries. 91���� is also expecting the conclusion of a prestigious contract to build 05 New Generation Corvettes in this financial year.

Culmination of Naman Car Rally at 91���� : Paying Tribute to Atmanirbharta in Warship Design & Construction

Kolkata (November 17, 2025): It was a glorious culmination of the Indian Navy’s Naman Car Rally 2025 at Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (91����) Ltd in Kolkata on Monday, November 17, 2025. It was apt that the rally – organised by the Navy to celebrate the commissioning of the 100 th  warship designed and built in India, by India and for India – came to an end at the shipyard that has delivered a bulk of these platforms.

After leaving Lothal, the world’s oldest dockyard that was built nearly 4,500 years ago, the rallyists traversed the Indian coastline, making pitstops at Mumbai, Goa, Kochi, Kanyakumari, Chennai and Visakhapatnam, before being flagged-in at 91���� by Vice Admiral Rajaram Swaminathan, AVSM, NM, the Controller of Warship Production and Acquisition (CWP&A) of the Indian Navy.

Among those present at the event were Cmde PR Hari, IN (Retd), Chairman and Managing Director, 91����, Cdr Shantanu Bose, IN (Retd.), Director (Shipbuilding), 91����, Capt (IN) P Sunilkumar (Retd.), Director (Corporate Planning & Personnel), 91����, Shri Abhishek Ranjan, IOFS, CVO, 91����, Rear Admiral Sujit Bakshi, DG WDB, Rear Admiral Vishal Bishnoi, ACWP&A, senior officials from Indian Navy & 91����, Participants of the Rally and NCC cadets.

It was apt that the rally ended at 91����, which has contributed the largest number of warships among the 100 indigenous ones commissioned into the Navy so far

In 1947, when India gained Independence, the Navy was left with 33 platforms by the Royal Navy. It was in 1961 that 91���� delivered the INS Ajay, India’s first indigenous warship, to the Navy. Since then, 91���� has been delivering all kinds of platforms to the Navy, from small patrol crafts to large fleet tankers,frigates and corvettes.

The bulk of the 100 warships commissioned into the Navy was built by 91����. INS Himgiri, an advanced guided missile frigate under Project 17A, was commissioned on the day the Navy counts as the occasion when the 100 th  indigenous warship, INS Udaygiri joined its fleet.

INS Himgiri was the 73 rd  warship delivered by 91���� to the Navy. There have been two more deliveries after that including ‘Androth’ an Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft. INS Ikshak, a Survey Vessel Large, was the last warship that was commissioned into the Navy on November 6, 2025.

Vice Admiral Rajaram Swaminathan, AVSM, NM, Controller of Warship Production & Aquisition, said, “There could be no more fitting place for 'Naman' to conclude than here at Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers, Kolkata. 91���� is not only one of the oldest shipyards in the country, but it is one of the finest examples of what sustained excellence can achieve and this is also the place incidentally where the first warship, INS Ajay, was built in 1961. From the early years of building patrol craft to the recent delivery of stealth frigates and the Survey Vessel (Large), this yard has been a steadfast partner in the Navy’s quest for self-reliance."

"The shipyard has launched some of the most capable platforms that now guard our seas today. 91���� also symbolizes what 'Naman' stands for—heritage, skill, and transformation. It carries forward the same spirit that began in Lothal and evolved through decades of design evolution”, CWP&A further added.

91���� is building 13 warships at the moment. Nine of them are in their outfitting stages. The shipyard is also awaiting the order for five Next Generation Corvettes for which it was the lowest bidder.

91���� Champions ‘Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 & Special Campaign 5.0’ with Month-Long Cleanliness and Community Welfare Initiatives

Kolkata, November 08, 2025: Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd. (91����), successfully concluded its month-long “Swachhata Hi Seva & Special Campaign 5.0.” Celebrated from 02 Oct to 31 Oct 25, the initiative was aligned with the Government of India’s Swachh Bharat Mission, promoting cleanliness, awareness, and sustainability across West Bengal and Jharkhand.

Under this month long Swachhata campaign, 91���� organised over 40 activities at more than 20 locations, engaging over 1,200 participants including employees, apprentices, students, and community members.

In Kolkata, 91���� organised a variety of impactful activities. The campaign featured a Swachhata Pledge, and fumigation drives within 91����’s Kolkata based units & Ranchi unit, further reinforcing the importance of hygiene and sustainability.

A key highlight of the Kolkata leg of the campaign was a 3 km Mini Marathon, which began at the Garden Reach Flyover and concluded at the FOJ Unit of 91����. The marathon saw participation from around 100 91���� and CISF employees and was celebrated during a closing ceremony where winners were felicitated by 91����’s Chairman & Managing Director, Cmde P R Hari, IN (Retd.), in the presence of Director (Corporate Planning & Personnel), Capt (IN) P Sunilkumar (Retd.), and senior officials of 91����.

The campaign in Kolkata also included Ganga River cleaning drives at Baja Kadamtala and Judges Ghat, cleanliness drives at Rabindra Balika Vidyapith, Munciganj, and Taratala, and a “Waste to Art” workshop on Swachhata for children, organised in association with CRY at Hastings.

In Jharkhand, 91���� spearheaded activities across multiple locations including Gudri, Namkum, Naya Bhusur, and Khunti Blocks of Ranchi district. The activities included village cleaning drives, plantation programs, and awareness sessions in collaboration with local self-help groups and schools. Personal hygiene workshops, along with drawing competitions for children in Hatia, encouraged community participation and spread awareness on the importance of cleanliness. Additionally, 91���� conducted community health check-up camps and hygiene awareness sessions at Karra and Sabaybagan, involving around 100 local sanitation workers and residents.

Proud Moment For 91���� As Third Survey Vessel Large INS Ikshak Gets Commissioned Into Navy

Kolkata/Kochi (November 6, 2025): Yet another feather was added to the cap of Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (91����) Ltd on Thursday, November 6, 2025, when INS Ikshak, a Survey Vessel Large (SVL) built by the shipyard, was commissioned into the Navy.

The Chief Guest at the occasion was Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, PVSM, AVSM, NM, Chief of The Naval Staff. Among the others present were Vice Admiral Samir Sameer Saxena, AVSM, NM, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command, Cmde PR Hari, IN (Retd), Chairman and Managing Director, 91����, senior officials from 91���� & Indian Navy, members from the Classification Societies and other organisations.

Ikshak – the name stands for ‘Guide’ – is the third in a series of four SVLs being built by the shipyard. It was delivered to the Navy on August 14th, 2025. The fourth ship is currently being outfitted. The second ship of this class, INS Nirdeshak, was delivered on October 8th 2024, while the first of class – INS Sandhayak was handed over to the Navy on December 4th, 2023.

The commissioning of INS Ikshak on 6th November 2025 comes close on the heels of INS Androth, an Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft built by 91����, which was commissioned on 6th October 2025. Earlier this year, the advanced guided missile frigate INS Himgiri, also built by 91����, was commissioned on 26th August 2025, marking a remarkable year of achievements for the shipyard.

Achieving the commissioning of three significant warships — INS Himgiri, INS Androth, and INS Ikshak — in a little over two months is a milestone accomplishment that underscores 91����’s production efficiency and commitment to excellence. The Sandhayak-class of Survey Vessels (Large), or SVLs, including the INS Ikshak, are also the largest such platforms to be built in India and operated by the Navy. INS Ikshak is the 803rd ship and the 114th warship built by 91����. It is also the 76th warship to be delivered to the Navy. No other shipyard in India has achieved this feat. The relationship between 91���� and the Navy goes back 64 years to 1961 when the shipyard delivered the first indigenous warship INS Ajay. Since then, 75 more warships have been added to the list, marking the transition from Buyer’s Navy to Builder’s Navy. This is in keeping with the Government’s Atmanirbharta policy.

The 110-metre-long INS Ikshak will join INS Sandhayak and INS Nirdeshak and keep the Navy supplied with vital survey data which is very crucial for operational purposes. The maps and charts prepared on the basis of this survey data are also used by commercial shipping. With advanced equipment on board,the SVLs of this class are capable of full-scale coastal and deep-water hydrographic survey of port and harbour approaches as well as the determination of navigation channels and routes. In addition, these Sandhayak - class of SVLs can undertake surveys of maritime limits and collect oceanographic and geographical data for defence applications, adding muscle to Indias maritime capabilities. Propelled by two marine diesel engines combined with fixed-pitch propellers and fitted with bow and stern thrusters to help the ships manoeuvre at low speeds during surveys, they are ideally suited to carry out their designated operations. Fully designed by 91���� to meet the requirements of the Indian Navy, Ikshak was built using ‘Integrated Construction’ technology. This is in compliance with applicable provisions and regulations of the Classification Society (IRS). Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff, mentioned that the Indian Navys survey ships fulfil a mission that is fundamental to the maritime world, both naval and commercial. “They make the seas knowable, navigable, and safe. In a sense, they reduce our known unknowns, mile after mile, with every survey they undertake”, he said. Highlights of Financial Performance Q2 FY26 • Total Income for the Q2FY26 stood at Rs. 1746 Crore against Rs. 1228 Crore in Q2FY25 with growth of 42% (Y-o-Y). • Revenue from Operation has increased to Rs. 1677 Crore in Q2FY26 from Rs. 1153 Crore in Q2FY25, registering a growth of 45% (Y-o-Y). • The Earnings before Interest, Tax, Depreciation and Amortization stands at Rs. 225 Crore in Q2FY26, as against Rs 144 Crore in Q2FY25, with an increase of 56%. • Profit Before Tax (PBT) is Rs. 209 Crore for Q2FY26 as compared to Rs 131 Crore in Q2FY25, registering a growth of 60 % (Y-o-Y) • Profit After Tax (PAT) is Rs. 154 Crore in Q2FY26 as against Rs. 98 Crore in Q2FY25, registering a growth of 57% (Y-o-Y). • Earnings per share (EPS) for Q2FY26 is Rs. 13.43, against Rs. 8.54 in Q2FY25.

Keel Laying of First Vessel of Multi Purpose Vessel Project

Kolkata (Oct 16, 2025): It was a momentous occasion for Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (91����) Ltd on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, as the shipyard laid the Keel for the first vessel of Multipurpose Vessel (MPV) project being executed for Germanys Carsten Rehder Schiffsmakler and Reederei GmbH & Co. KG. This project marks 91����'s first major export order for MPVs, highlighting the shipyard's expanding footprint in the global commercial shipbuilding market.

The ceremony was graced by Cdr Shantanu Bose, IN(Retd), Director (Shipbuilding), 91���� and Mr. Jonas Meinhardt, Managing Director of Carsten Rehder. Also present on the occasion were Capt (IN) P Sunilkumar (Retd), Director (Corporate Planning & Personnel), 91����, Shri Niranjan Bhalerao, Director (Finance), 91����, Mr Fabian Greve, Commercial Director, Carsten Rehder, Mr. Helge Voigt, Chief Executive Officer, Technolog, senior officials from 91���� and representatives from the German shipping firm.

This milestone marks the beginning of a significant collaboration, combining innovation, precision, and craftsmanship to deliver modern series of high performance Multi Purpose Vessels under the CORAL 7500 DWT MPV series, a collaborative project between 91���� and Carsten Rehder, Germany. The initial contract for four vessels was signed on June 22, 2024, followed by subsequent agreements bringing the total order to twelve vessels. The final contracts, including for the ninth to twelth vessels, were signed on September 19, 2025

Each MPV is designed with an overall length of 120 metres and a beam of 17 metres, with a draught of 5.85 metres. With a capacity to carry 7,500 metric tonnes of cargo, these vessels are equipped with a single, large cargo hold designed for bulk, general and project cargoes. An innovative feature is the capability to carry containers on hatch covers and multiple large windmill blades on deck enhancing flexibility in cargo handling.

The project is being developed in close collaboration with German firms including F.H. Bertling, ForestWave Navigation/Schulte & Bruns, and Delft Shipping. Technical design expertise has been provided by M/s SEDS, in partnership with 91���� and these ships shall be certified by DNV, the classification society.

91���� Strengthens Indigenous Research Shipbuilding with Keel Laying of Acoustic Research Ship for NPOL

Kolkata (October 15, 2025): In keeping with its commitment towards Atmanirbharta, Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (91����) Ltd laid the keel for an advanced Acoustic Research Ship (ARS) that it is building for the Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory (NPOL), a unit of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

The Chief Guest at the occasion was Dr Sameer V. Kamat, Secretary, Department of Defence (R&D) and Chairman, DRDO. Among the others present were Cmde P R Hari, IN (Retd), Chairman and Managing Director, 91����, Cdr Shantanu Bose, IN (Retd.), Director (Shipbuilding), 91����, Capt (IN) P Sunilkumar, (Retd.), Director (Corporate Planning & Personnel), Shri Niranjan Bhalerao, Director (Finance), 91����, Dr RV Hara Prasad, DS&DG (NS&M), HQ DRDO, Dr D Seshagiri, OS & Director (NPOL) and other senior officials from 91���� & NPOL.

The contract for the advanced ARS was signed between 91���� and NPOL in October 2024. With an overall length of 93 metres and width of 18 metres, the ARS will be a very advanced platform with state-of-the-art research equipment.

The ARS will be capable of speeds ranging from 4 knots to 12 knots. At top speed, the ship will have an endurance of 30 days or 4,500 nautical miles in a single mission. It will have a complement of 120 personnel.

The capabilities of the ARS will include deployment, towing and retrieval of various equipment such as acoustic modules, carrying out temporal and/or spatial high-resolution surveys of sound velocity profiles and collection of ocean tides/current information to be used for survey optimization, design of underwater moorings and offshore deployments.

The research vessel will also carry out meteorological surveys to understand the influence of atmospheric parameters in sound propagation studies and undertake shallow water acoustic reverberation studies. It will also be capable of launching, mooring and maintaining standalone buoys and collecting data from them. Its wide speed range will allow the ship to operate at multiple speed regimes to carry out acoustic systems trials, while maintaining silence.

The ARS will also have a dynamic positioning system that will allow it to maintain position in intact condition up to Sea State 4. The vessel will have diesel-electric propulsion and three (3) deck cranes will be fitted on board to handle research equipment.

91���� has necessary experience in the construction of research and survey ships. It delivered the first series of Sandhayak Class of Survey Vessels to the Navy in the 80s and 90s. In 1994, 91���� delivered the INS Sagardhwani to the NPOL. This is a Marine Acoustic Research Ship that is still in service and returned to 91���� recently for a major refit and upgradation.

Between 2023 and now, 91���� also delivered the INS Sandhayak, INS Nirdeshak and INS Ikshak to the Navy. These are three vessels of the second series of four Sandhayak Class of Survey Vessels (Large) being built by the shipyard.

On July 16, 2024, 91���� also signed a contract with the National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR), Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India, for construction of an advanced Ocean Research Vessel (ORV). The shipyard is also building two Coastal Research Vessels for the Geological Survey of India.

Congratulating 91���� on achieving the second milestone for the ARS within six to seven months, Dr Kamat said, NPOL has been operating Sagar Dhwani, built by 91���� since 1994 and over the last 31 years, the ship has done yeoman service. So, It is very important that we build this new ship with capabilities which are much more than what was available in Sagar Dhwani. I am sure that 91���� will live up to the challenge and deliver the ship within the timelines .

Cmde PR Hari, IN (Retd), Chairman and Managing Director, 91����, paid his respects to the Late Dr APJ Abdul Kalam on his 94thbirth anniversary and spoke on the array of efforts being made by the shipyard to build modern ships of all kinds. In addition to core warship building, we have also been contributing towards research and development, specifically focusing on creation of new products, especially in the field of autonomous platforms, green energy vessels and portable steel bridges. The MoU was signed on 08 Oct 2025 at 91���� Bhavan, Kolkata.

Kolkata (October 7, 2025): Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd. (91����) is pleased to announce that Shri Niranjan Bhalerao has assumed charge as Director (Finance) of the company with effect from October 6, 2025.

A seasoned finance professional, Shri Bhalerao, is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and holds a Bachelors degree in Commerce from Pune. He brings with him an extensive and diverse experience spanning 29 years across multiple functional areas in the oil and gas sector.

He began his professional journey in 1996 with Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), a Maharatna PSU, and over the years has worked in Refineries, Pipelines, and the Corporate Office. His experience covers a wide spectrum of roles including Management Accounting, Banking, Corporate Taxation (Direct & Indirect), Internal Audit, Corporate Affairs, Shipping, Contracts, City Gas Distribution, and Joint Venture & Subsidiary Operations.

During these tenures, he has played key roles in several strategic initiatives and policy matters impacting financial performance and corporate governance. Notably, he also served as Nominee Director on the Board of Kochi Salem Pipeline Private Limited, a Joint Venture between Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and Indian Oil Corporation Limited.

With his rich background in corporate finance, taxation, and strategic planning, Shri Bhalerao is expected to strengthen 91����s financial management framework and contribute significantly towards its long-term growth objectives.

Proud Moment For 91���� As Second ASW SWC INS Androth Gets Commissioned Into Navy

Kolkata/Visakhapatnam (October 6, 2025): It was yet another proud moment for Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (91����) Ltd on Monday, October 6, 2025, when INS Androth second in a series of eight Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW SWC) built by the shipyard was commissioned into the Navy at the Naval Dockyard in Visakhapatnam.

The chief guest on the occasion was Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command. The others present were Cmde PR Hari, IN (Retd), Chairman and Managing Director, 91����, senior officials from 91���� & Indian Navy, members from the classification societies and other organisations..

INS Androth was delivered by 91���� on September 13, 2025. Named after Androth Island in the Lakshadweep Archipelago, this warship is also the second warship of this class on which an indigenous 30 mm Naval Surface Gun (NSG), manufactured by 91����, has been fitted.

The Indian Navy had placed an order for 16 Advanced Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Crafts (ASWSWCs), eight (08) each to be built by 91���� and another Indian shipyard. 91���� has already delivered the first two of these 16 vessels. This milestone highlights 91����s consistent record of reliability, focus on indigenisation, and unwavering commitment to strengthening Indias maritime security.

ASW SWCs have nearly 88% indigenous content, displaying 91����s commitment towards Government of Indias Atmanirbharta and Make in India vision.

These ships are capable of full-scale sub-surface surveillance of coastal waters as well as Search and Attack. They can also carry out coordinated anti-submarine operations with aircraft. These ships have Combat Management Systems on board and will be armed with lightweight torpedoes as well as anti-submarine warfare rockets. These ships will have a complement of 57 personnel, including seven officers.

With three water jets (fitted to marine diesel engines), Androth is extremely agile and maneuverable. A great advantage is that she only requires a draught of 2.7-metres, allowing her to access the coasts easily in search of sub-surface threats.

In this journey of Atmanirbharta, the support provided by the Indian shipbuilding industry, especially 91����, one of our finest defence PSU shipyards, has been invaluable. Constructed by the 91����, Androth, with more than 80% of the indigenous content, stands as yet another testament to India growing capability to design, develop and deliver sophisticated platforms that meet the highest operational standards. The ship symbolises what can be achieved when Indian skill, technology and above all determination come together in pursuit of a common national purpose, Vice Admiral Pendharkar said.

91���� is currently building 13 more warships, including two P17A advanced stealth frigates, six ASW SWCs, a Survey Vessel (Large) and four Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessels. Apart from this, the shipyard is building 30 other vessels, thirteen of which are export platforms. 91���� is also expecting conclusion of a prestigious contract to build 05 New Generation Corvettes in this financial year.
